Eye Care Week 2009 - Healthy Eyes – Your Responsibility

Sangre Grande Hospital Ophthalmology was opened on 2nd May 2007. Its mission is to bring quality Eyecare to the Eastern Region using ophthalmology and optometry resources. To celebrate our first very successful year, the Optometry Unit hosted Eye Care Week in May 2008. Building on this success, SGHO presented Eye Care Week 2009 which focused this year on glaucoma and diabetes.

Flexlens workshop

To follow up on last years Eye Care Week, where the theme was keratoconus, SGHO hosted a contact lens fitting workshop at the end of May which focused on the Flexlens, a soft lens for keratoconus supplied in the US by Walmans. SGHO now has two soft lens options for keratoconus patients who cannot tolerate RGP lenses, the other being KeraSoft from the UK.       go to Flexlens workshop
